Enne Design

Founded in spring 2009, Enne Design designs and manufactures ecodesign clothes and interior textiles. Our current collection contains jersey clothes, toys, bed linen, cushions and bags for children (0–8-year-olds). All products are handmade in Finland from organic cotton.

The colourful and playful patterns and forms used in the products of Enne Design reflect the world of children – their games and fantasy worlds. The subjects of Enne’s patterns include, for example, the dreaming of little princesses and the tools of little builders, and the cushions and bags by Enne Design play with forms. The colour chart used in Enne’s products is broad, ranging from soft baby colours to bright colours familiar from children’s games. In addition, there are some graphic black-and-white products.

All patterns and designs are made by Enne Design. The fabrics used in all clothes and some of the interior textiles are printed by hand in Finland using a screen-printing technique. All products are sewn by hand in Finland.

Heidi Jääskeläinen

Heidi Jääskeläinen is the founder and designer of Enne Design. Heidi holds degrees in Fine Arts as well as Textile Design. In her work, Heidi is inspired by little everyday events, details in the surrounding nature, stories and the colourful imagination of children.

Values

For Heidi, respect for nature is an important value, which she takes into consideration also in her designs. This means, for example, carefully considering the environmental impact and life cycle of each product during the design phase – from the selection of materials to product disposal.

All products by Enne Design are made of 100% organic cotton, which contains no chemical residues common to regular cotton. The growing of organic cotton does not involve the use of genetically modified seeds, chemical fertilizers or synthetic pesticides. This means that the environment and the farmers are not exposed to the toxic chemicals used in conventional cotton production. Organically grown cotton also retains water more efficiently than conventional cotton growing, which helps prevent erosion.

The organic cotton used in the products of Enne Design comes from India. The soft, highly-quality jersey used in children’s clothes is certified to Oeko-Tex Standard 100 which ensures that the fabric carries no harmful substances. This is particularly important for products that come into contact with children’s sensitive skin. The cotton used in home textiles and bed linen carries a SKAL organic certification.
